The Swan Academy Pre-school programme has been specially designed by British Gymnastics to help young children enjoy exercise from an early age. The movement ideas used within the programme develop essential basic skills in movement and co-ordination. These skills play an essential role in everyday life and are fundamental to all types of physical learning. Participation in the Pre-School scheme stimulates the imagination, gives children a head start in encountering new physical and emotional experiences and developing social interaction.
The early years of a child’s life should provide a wealth of opportunity for the child to develop as a whole person. Through structured activity, the child can experience a depth of physical awareness laying the foundations for the development of strength, endurance, agility, balance, flexibility, power, co-ordination, spatial awareness, and good posture, which provide the building blocks for lifelong healthy and active lifestyles. Children can learn to control their body movement, monitor and respond to situations, improve their accuracy, alertness and ability to stop and start quickly.
The Pre-School sessions is also great for learning respect, sharing, waiting a turn, listening, building creativity, confidence, concentration, as well as reinforcing the learning of colours, shapes, numbers and vocabulary.
Our Preschool Gymnastics sessions are held on:
Fridays: 5.30pm - 6.30pm
Saturday: 10.45am - 11.45am
