Stay Hydrated This Summer at Swan Academy!

As the temperature rises and the summer sun shines brighter, it’s more important than ever for our gymnasts to stay properly hydrated. At Swan Academy, your leading Stevenage gymnastics club, we are committed not just to excellent training but to promoting healthy habits that keep our athletes at their best.

Why Hydration Matters for Gymnasts Hydration is key for optimal performance, focus, and recovery.

During high-energy sessions in the gym, your child’s body loses water through sweat, even if they don’t realise it. Dehydration can lead to fatigue, dizziness, cramping, and even affect coordination—all of which are crucial to avoid in a gymnastics setting.

Healthy Hydration Tips Here are a few ways to help your gymnast stay hydrated:

  • Start the Day Right: Make sure your child begins their day with a glass of water. Staying ahead of hydration is easier than playing catch-up.

  • Bring a Bottle: All gymnasts should come to class with a clearly labelled water bottle. Reusable bottles with easy-sip lids are ideal.

  • Sip Regularly: Encourage your gymnast to take small sips between turns or during breaks in class.

  • Choose Water First: Avoid sugary drinks and stick to water or diluted squash for a healthier option.

  • Hydrate Post-Session: Replenishing fluids after class is just as important. Water helps muscles recover and keeps the body cool.

Swan Academy’s Commitment

We remind all parents and gymnasts to bring water to every session, especially during the summer months. Coaches will also be encouraging regular water breaks during classes to ensure our athletes are staying hydrated and safe.

Being part of a gymnastics club in Stevenage means we get to support young athletes through more than just skills training. Healthy habits like staying hydrated are a big part of building happy, healthy gymnasts.

Let’s all make hydration a priority this summer at Swan Academy!
